Hydro Power


The hydro power plants are traditionally a well developed energy source in Bulgaria. The investment in such plants is quite attractive when carefully planned.

 According to experts in the Vratsa region has opportunities for the construction of hydropower plants on the rivers Iskar and Botunia. Currently in operation are three plants in Iskar - near Roman, Bruce and one of Mezdra Botunia in the land of Krivodol. Ministry of Environment and Water issued a water use permits for eight projects. It is envisaged that all 11 hydropower plants with total installed capacity of 30 megawatts per year on average to produce 150 million kWh of electricity. Work first hydro power plant in the upper valley of Arda.  HPP is located between the villages and Basket Mogilitsa under cave Uhlovitsa.
