Measures to reduce consumption of electricity and water

Аfter analyzing the results of the poll, project team has taken measures to reduce consumption of electricity and water. We put stickers near electrical outlets and water taps in the school.

The pupils make exercises, measurements and research in their workbook. With results of their research, the students will share their opinion with our guests from partner countries and we are going to prepare a meeting with Mayor and City Council Representative.

 We elect two representatives from each class. Their job is to monitor energy saving behavior of students and teachers. They are in particular responsible for the following measures:
ventilate the room for short periods is not continuous;
switching off lights during breaks and after classes;
• Use of individual lighting only when necessary (with the keys placed signs);
switching off equipment not necessary;
A group of students explore songs about saving water, to meet the children and guests at their meeting in April.

We use the school radio for our cаmpaign of energy saving, where regularly sound song of save water, "Do you know that", roles for saving etc.

We spread posters, rules throughout school.

Top 10 Rules for Saving Energy
To get started saving energy around your home, just follow these easy rules:
1. DO shut off the lights when you’re done using them, and turn off the TV, computer, video games and other electrical stuff when you leave the room.

2. DO lower the thermostat during the winter. To keep warm without wasting energy, put on a sweatshirt or snuggle under a blanket.

3. DON'T leave the refrigerator door open. Every time you open the door, up to one-third of the cold air can escape.

4. DO replace a burnt-out light bulb with a new compact fluorescent bulb. Fluorescent bulbs use 75 percent less energy, and they last 10 times longer.

5. DO remind grown-ups to use cold water in the washing machine. Hot water won’t get the clothes any cleaner, and it wastes a lot of energy.
6. DO turn off dripping faucets. One drop per second can add up to 165 gallons of hot water a month - that's more than one person uses in two weeks!

7. DON’T take a long bath – take a short shower instead. It might take 25 gallons of hot water to fill the bathtub, compared to only seven gallons for a quick shower.

8. DO close the curtains during hot summer days to block the sun. During the winter, keep the curtains open.

9. Help a grown-up put plastic sheeting on windows. Blocking cold drafts is called “weatherizing” and it can save a lot of energy.

10. DO help your mom or dad plant a tree to help shade your house on hot summer days.

Did you know that:
Most thermal power converted into electricity no more than 40% of energy produced by burning oil, gas or coal. In the other 60% of the energy is discharged into the environment in the form of heat. Nuclear power plants make electricity at no more than 30% of energy from nuclear fuel and 70% goes to heating the environment.

47% of energy from the sun is taken from the atmosphere, 30% is reflected back into space, 23% evaporates water, 1% driven waves and ocean currents, 0.01% is used in photosynthesis.

The greenhouse effect exists on Earth hundreds of millions of years since the appearance of the atmosphere. If the natural greenhouse effect not retain solar tolyl Earth average temperature of the lower atmosphere would be-18c, which means that vast areas of land should go out to have been covered with glaciers. It is the greenhouse effect has created conditions for the emergence of life on Earth. Thanks to the greenhouse effect the Earth's average temperature is +14 C.

Studied global coal reserves should last for several hundred years, oil stocks around for 70 years, and stocks of natural gas for 50 years. But one thing is doubtless: sooner or later these stocks will be exhausted. What fuel will we use then?

In 1900 the world had only a few thousand cars in the U.S. today there are 150 million cars. Increase the amount of cars was like an explosion, environmental pollution became a big problem.

In the ocean is diluted 50 times more carbon dioxide than the atmosphere.

Ten of the hottest years since 1990 due to increased volume of releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

Energy consumption worldwide has increased from 1971 to 2004 by 61% for industry. Transport is the second largest carbon dioxide emissions and its share is steadily increasing. In Europe, one fifth of carbon dioxide emissions account for transport.
